With the ongoing case of ‘social distancing’ (which involves significant number of Nigerian citizens staying at home to help protect the lives of one another), a lot of lessons are being learnt daily.

It is interesting to note that the challenges of the moment are also generating new & valuable principles to use in managing more productively, family time, electricity power supply and money, (amongst others).

Can you relate with the lessons below?

  1. Some expenses can truly be dropped (re-prioritise).
  2. A budget / list is now more critical to help monitor your spending.
  3. Avoid being a victim of debt, as much as possible. (Aso- Ebi is not important now).
  4. Give yourself limits for unbudgeted spending.
  5. Don’t commit to new reoccurring bills.
  6. Stick to / cut down your already planned budgets.
  7. Limit your credit/ debit card purchases as much as possible.
  8. Note your day to day costs.
  9. Expect emergencies & have a plan for same.
  10. Evaluate purchase cost per usage.
