A lot of ladies tend to get a bit confused when it comes to what outfit to wear during the rainy season in Nigeria. 

Some persons wear worn-out clothing whenever it rains because they do not want their new and nice outfits to get drenched and stained. 

You can still slay in rain-friendly and fashionable outfits and go about your normal daily activities.

Rain Jackets or Rain Coats.
There are different types of fashionable rain jackets you can get in the market. You could wear a light outfit inside and then put on a rain jacket or rain coat ,so that when you get to your destination you can take it off. 

This rain jacket / coat helps to prevent you from getting all drenched in the rain; some are also designed to keep you warm.

 As the fashion trend evolves, you can get various colours, designs, lightweight but strong waterproof rain jackets with or without a rain hood.

Trousers/Shorts/Skirts/Gowns
Wearing a mixture of long trousers or skirts and shorts is nice because during the rainy season, mosquitoes and other dangerous insects become rampant and this is usually experienced in tropical areas.

You will need those long trousers, skirts or gowns to protect you from insect bites and also from the cold breeze, while shorts are a good choice as they will not get wet in puddles. It will be ideal to put on shorts, trousers, and gowns made of quick-dry materials.

Tops
You can choose to wear shirts of different lengths.

Refrain from wearing white or similar outfits during the raining season as they will easily get stained even before you get to your destination.

You don’t want to get to work looking all dirty as it may affect your confidence at work. Instead, wear darker-coloured clothes during the rainy season. Consider wearing sweatshirts or cardigans to prevent cold.

Shoes

If you want your shoes to last for a longer period then avoid wearing leather shoes, party shoes, office shoes, etc., in the rain. Also, avoid shoes without a good grip on slippery grounds as they have a great tendency to make you slip. Shoes like trainers and other types of sports shoes are not ideal during the rainy season because when it gets wet, it takes a longer time to get dry and if not properly dried will smell and harbourharbor germs, bacteria, and fungi.

Go for water-friendly sandal and shoes/boots that are made of rubber so you can face any pothole confidently. There are a lot of water proof shoes and sandals now available in the markets for you to add to the wet weather wears! For very muddy and mucky areas, you may invest in a pair of rubber boots.

Ensure to wear the right outfits whether you are going to work, visiting or traveling to anyplace during the rainy season. The clothing that works well during the dry season, can’t work during the rainy season as you risk being stained, wet, embarrassed and frustrated all through that day.

Ladies, remember your good old rain hoods to protect your hair, which you can keep handy in your waterproof handbag! Umbrellas of different shapes, colours and sizes to hold or slip in your handbag are also up for the takes.
